Happy birthday to the evergreen Moushumi
Moushumi aced her debut in the industry with Sohanur Rahman Sohan directorial "Keyamot Theke Keyamot", opposite the magnetic Salman Shah. After that, she did not have to look back – for over two decades, she ruled the film industry.
The indomitable actress celebrates her birthday today.
Moushumi is still going strong, with two of her releases on the horizon – "Bhangon" on November 4, and "Deshantor" on November 11.
"I am proud to call myself an actress, and that the audience loves me," she said to The Daily Star. "This is why I was able to stand in front of the camera for so long". Indeed, throughout her career, she never faced any low points.
She has acted in hundreds of commercially successful films, among which "Keyamot Theke Keyamot" and "Khairun Shundori" are still stuck in the hearts of film-loving audiences today. Moushumi has acted opposite most of the big stars of the era, including Omar Sani, who is her husband and life partner now. The two are parents to a son and a daughter.
The actress has also ventured into direction now – with the projects "Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti" and the upcoming "Meher Nigar". Her influence on television is also evident, with her tele-fiction "Amader Nurul Huda" opposite Mahfuz Ahmed becoming a cult classic.
During her illustrious career, Moushumi has won the National Film Award three times. "I am blessed to have a loving family, we celebrated by cutting a cake at the stroke of 12," said Moushumi. "I am seeking love and prayers from all my fans and well-wishers."
