Hugh Jackman rocks classic Wolverine costume in 'Deadpool 3'
Hugh Jackman, known for his iconic portrayal of Wolverine, has finally donned the yellow spandex suit in the highly anticipated film "Deadpool 3". Alongside co-star Ryan Reynolds, Jackman shared a first-look photo on Monday, unveiling his character's classic comic book costume for the very first time.
The yellow suit, famous from the '90s animated series, has been a subject of jokes in the X-Men films. In the original 2000 movie, Wolverine expresses his dislike for the black leather suits worn by the team, prompting a witty response from Cyclops. A deleted scene in 2013's "The Wolverine" teased the yellow suit, although it was not actually worn by Jackman's character.
Reynolds and Jackman shared the image through their Instagram stories, while the official "Deadpool" account also posted a high-resolution version. The inclusion of the yellow spandex is a thrilling surprise for fans who have long awaited this comic book-faithful depiction of Wolverine on the big screen.
Jackman's return as Wolverine comes after his retirement from the role following 2017's "Logan". He and Reynolds previously shared the screen in the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", which marked the first appearance of Reynolds as Deadpool.
Directed by Shawn Levy, "Deadpool 3" features a talented cast including Matthew Macfadyen from "Succession" and Emma Corrin from "The Crown" in a villainous role. Rumors suggest that the film will explore the concept of a multiverse, with Deadpool being the first Marvel character from the 20th Century Fox stable to headline their own movie following Disney's acquisition of the studio. Excitingly, Jennifer Garner, who portrayed Elektra in past Fox features, is confirmed to reprise her role in "Deadpool 3", marking her return after two decades.
Fans can mark their calendars as "Deadpool 3" is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
