I was honoured by the hands that raised me: Dibya Jyoti
Rising star Dibya Jyoti has quickly made a name for himself in the hit web-series "Mohanagar 2", solidifying his place among the new generation of actors. The skilled artiste is the son of celebrated playwright Brindaban Das and acclaimed actress Shahnaz Khushi.
His debut film "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin", is currently being screened in local theatres.
In a candid conversation with The Daily Star, Dibya Jyoti reflected on the film and shared, "It was shot several years ago and the film even had the honour of being featured at international film festivals, where it earned commendable reviews."
Dibya Jyoti recalled, "The first time I watched 'Nakshi Kanthar Jamin' was at the International Film Festival in Goa, India. My parents were seated on either side of me, and the experience was deeply moving for them. They held my hands tightly, and my mother couldn't hold back her tears when the national flag appeared on the screen. It's a memory I'll always cherish from my time abroad."
"'Nakshi Kanthar Jamin' is an outstanding film inspired by a story from Hasan Azizul Haque Sir. In the film, I play a character from a farming family. The portrayal of the Liberation War is truly exceptional. Our director, Akram Khan, has crafted a masterpiece, and Jaya Ahsan's performance is simply outstanding," he added.
Following the film's release last month, the actor went to the theatre to watch it again. He further shared, "I saw it with my parents, and once more, they were visibly emotional. The response to the film has been incredible and overwhelming with audiences showering it with praise."
"'Nakshi Kanthar Jamin' is my first film. From that perspective, it holds a special place in my heart. It feels truly significant that my debut is based on a story by the esteemed writer Hasan Azizul Haque. This brings me immense joy."
Recently, Dibya Jyoti was honoured with The Daily Star OTT Award. Reflecting on his experience after winning the Best Supporting Actor Award, he remarked, "I received the award for my role in 'Mohanagar 2', however being nominated itself was a delight, and I never expected to win. Yet, when it happened, the feeling was truly special."
He mentioned, "The entire credit for 'Mohanagar 2' belongs to the director, Ashfaque Nipun. His support was exceptional. Mosharraf Karim and Tanzika Amin also provided great assistance to all of us, and I am truly thankful to them."
"I received The Daily Star OTT award from my parents. When they walked onto the stage to present the award, I had convinced myself I wouldn't win, but then it happened. Accepting the award from the very hands that raised me was profoundly significant. My parents and I were overwhelmed with emotion," he recalled."
In conclusion, he professed, "Acting is something I truly enjoy. I have a deep love for the craft and want to see myself involved in remarkable projects in the future."
