‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’ actor Uttara Baokar passes away

Veteran actress Uttara Baokar, who is largely known as Bebe to the fans of the 2000s sitcom, "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin" passed away on Tuesday. The National Award-winning thespian breathed her last in a Pune hospital, after battling with a chronic illness, she was 79.

The actor had a spectacular career of nearly five decades. She rose to the limelight after her role in Govind Nihalani's film "Tamas". She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Ek Din Achanak" in 1988. Apart from this, she was also a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting (Hindi theatre).

Uttara cemented her role as the adoring Bebe in the beloved sitcom, which was inspired from the American series "Ugly Betty".
