‘Jawan’ box office: SRK starrer film crosses Rs 300 crore mark
"I don't have any competition," Shah Rukh Khan told film critic Rajeev Masand in an earlier interview. This remark remains true today, as his latest film, "Jawan", smashes box office records.
The Shah Rukh Khan starrer film became the third Bollywood film in 2023 to break Rs 300 crore barrier within five days, following its historic debut at the box office.
"Jawan" earned Rs 30 crore on Monday, raising its total gross earnings in India to Rs 316.56 crore.
Yesterday, "Jawan" had a significant 17.38 percent occupancy in Hindi-speaking regions, 13.72 percent in Tamil-speaking areas, and 16.75 percent in Telugu-speaking regions.
Notably, the film earned Rs 81 crore on Sunday, making it the largest single-day grosser in Bollywood history. Previously, SRK's "Pathaan" set this record on the second day of its release, January 26 – a national holiday, with Rs 70.50 crore (with Hindi collections at Rs 68 crore).
Jawan also holds the record of being the fastest Bollywood film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office, according to Sacnilk. The film had earned roughly Rs 530 crore worldwide as of Sunday.
Directed by Atlee, "Jawan" stars South Indian actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. In addition to Shah Rukh Khan, the film features significant performances by Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani.
Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt make cameo appearances. Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Leher Khan, Aaliyah Qureishi, Riddhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover also appear in the film.
