Journalist Ahmed Tepantor banned from BFDC
The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) has recently banned journalist Ahmed Tepantor from entering the BFDC premises, as per the new notice signed by the association's president, Kazi Hayat.
Journalists across the country have expressed their anger over the organisation's actions.
According to reports, journalist Ahmed Tepantor recently got into an argument with Shaheen Sumon, secretary general of the BFDC. In response to this, Shahin Sumon took the initiative to ban Tepantor from the organisation's premises.
The notice entails, "On May 13, Ahmed Tepantor misbehaved with the secretary general of BFDC, Shaheen Sumon, and made threatening remarks over the phone. Moreover, Tepantor posted defamatory statuses on his social media, which organisationally and socially insulted the secretary general. Due to this, at the organisational meeting held on May 16, Ahmed Tepantor was boycotted by the association and banned from entering the premises of BFDC."
On this matter, Ahmed Tepantor shared with the media that he had found director Raju Chowdhury sick on the road, a few days ago. Since Tepantor had a casual relationship with Shaheen Sumon, he called him afterwards. Though the secretary general didn't pick up that day, the two got into an argument over this incident just a day later.
The Bangladesh Cine-Journalist Association has strongly condemned BFDC's ban on Tepantor Ahmed and demanded that his ban be lifted. They have also demanded an apology from Kazi Hayat and Shaheen Sumon, otherwise, they will protest against BFDC.
