This is just fiction: Apurba about ‘Buker Moddhe Agun’
There has been a lot of buzz about the web-series, "Buker Moddhe Agun", which is supposedly based on some parts of the life of late superstar, Salman Shah. After the release of the series on Hoichoi, those who have watched the show have shared that it is about various events in the life of Salman Shah. Some have even gone so far as to say that the show is a biography of the late actor.
However, Ziaul Faruq Apurba, who plays the role of ASP Golam Mamun in the series said, "It is just fiction."
According to Hoichoi, the series follows the death of a mysterious superstar and style icon of the 90s. The mystery of this star's death will be solved by Apurba. However, they have not clarified whether Salman Shah is the supserstar in question.
On Saturday night, while attending an award ceremony, Ziaul Faruq Apurba spoke to a few journalists, sharing that the web-series was receiving a good response from the audience at that time. He had also mentioned that the series had been lauded by critics and colleagues as well.
On February 5, Salman Shah's uncle, Alamgir Kumkum, had sent a legal notice on behalf of the late star's family to the project's producer, Taneem Rahman Angshu. The notice had claimed that as they had come to learn that "Buker Moddhe Agun" was about the life of Salman Shah, that the producers should stop the release of the show. Otherwise, legal actions would be taken.
In addition to this, Salman Shah's mother, Nilufar Chowdhury, filed a writ-petition in the High Court, through lawyer Farooq Ahmed, requesting that the series be halted. She also requested a complete ban on the production of songs, dramas, movies and web-series related to Salman Shah, in this writ petition.
In response to this, Apurba said, "The director has presented the series as a piece of fiction. If this was about him (Salman Shah), then there would be a disclaimer stating that it is 'Based on a true story'. This is not mentioned at any point, so the series should be considered to be fiction."
When asked what would happen if Salman Shah's family actually filed a case, Apurba responded, "Let's not talk about ifs and maybes."
Salman Shah passed away 27 years ago, but he is still in the hearts of millions of Bengalis. After his death, what many people learned from the news has lined up with what they have seen in "Buker Moddhe Agun".
Yash Rohan can be seen playing Arman, who seems to be based on Salman Shah. Arman's style and stardom are very similar to that of the late actor. The mystery of Arman's death is also similar to that of Salman Shah, which clarified for many that this series has been heavily based on the late superstar's life. Overall, the series has received a lot of mixed reaction from viewers.
Tama Mirza can be seen playing the role of Arman's wife, and seems to be exactly like Salman's wife Samira. Tania Ahmed, who plays Arman's mother, also seems to be similar to Nilufar Chowdhury (Salman Shah's actual mother). Tauquir Ahmed can be seen in the getup of politician Hussain Muhammad Ershad, while Tariq Anam Khan's character seems very similar to producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai.
At the same time, Shahnaz Sumi plays the role of Shabnam, who seems to be very similar to the real-life Shabnur. In the series, Arman has a secret and illicit love affair with the heroine Shabnam—a rumour that was circulating about Salman Shah during his time.
Seeing as so many of the characters resembled those from the real life of Salman Shah, people have come to the conclusion that "Buker Moddhe Agun" has been heavily based on the life of Salman Shah.
