'Killers Of The Flower Moon' starring DiCaprio to release in October
The historical film "Killers of the Flower Moon," directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, will be released in theaters on October 20.
The film is based on the 2017 non-fiction book,Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,by journalist David Grann.
The plot revolves around a conspiracy to assassinate the Osage tribe members in northwestern Oklahoma between 1921 and 1925. Due to vast oil reserves being found on their territory in the late 19th century, the Osage had amassed wealth. When the body of an Osage lady was discovered in the woods in 1921, jealousy erupted into violence. Four years later, the Osage community had lost over 60 people, and the newly established FBI was contacted to look into the murders.
The film also stars Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, and John Lithgow.
Given the top talent involved, "Killers of the Flower Moon" is expected to be a major player in the upcoming award season.
