The new movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise has racked up a record number of negative responses, becoming the most disliked MCU trailer in YouTube history. A similar response was recorded when Brie Larson's "Captain Marvel" dropped in 2019, which garnered almost USD 1 billion at the box office, but gained exceptional amount of hate from the fans on social media.

"The Marvels", which is essentially a sequel to "Captain Marvel", doesn't solely focus on Captain Marvel, but also ties in with Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau. While the story may be a collaborative one, with MCU stalwart Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) also along for the ride, the trailer has brought out Larson's less than complimentary followers, in their hundreds of thousands, to see the trailer gaining over half a million dislikes over just a few days.

The trailer, which garnered has 17 million views in just 11 hours, received 660,000 dislikes on Marvel Entertainment's YouTube channel, compared to the 495,000 likes. Fans have also been review-bombing the trailer, accusing Marvel for its 'woke' behaviour due to casting three female leads.

Directed by Nia Thomas, the film is set to hit theatres on November 10, 2023.
