The film "Priyo Maloti" has been appreciated by the critics and masses alike since it hit the theatres on December 20, last year. Now Mehazabien Chowdhury's debut film is set to be released on the OTT platform Chorki. 

The movie, based on real-life events, is set to be released on Chorki on February 6 at 8pm, according to an announcement notice sent by Chorki.

"Priyo Maloti" captures the story of the otherwise ordinary life of Maloti Rani Das played by Mehzabien. The protagonist, newly married to Polash Kumar Das, is a warrior struggling to make ends meet. 

Like most other couples in town, their marriage too was sprinkled with occasional banter and happiness. All was well until one day a fire accident at a market changed the course of their simple lives.

Shankha Dasgupta, the director and screenwriter conveyed, "Maloti embodies the struggle and strength of going through economic, social, and emotional ordeals. Her story is synonymous with thousands of other women in the country. Our movie questions many unethical practices that run rampant and unchallenged in society."

The ensemble cast includes seasoned actors like Azad Abul Kalam, Shahjahan Samrat, Rizvi Rizu, Anisul Haque Borun, Nader Chowdhury and many others.

The premiere of "Priyo Maloti" marked the silver screen debut for both the filmmaker and the leading actress. The film, produced by Frame Per Second and Chorki, was announced on April 19, 2023.

"Priyo Maloti" has already been screened at the Cairo International Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India. It recently bagged a prestigious award at this year's Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF).
