Mehazabien’s 12 years in showbiz
Mehazabien Chowdhury recently completed 12 years in showbiz.
"Initially, I just wanted to be a model. I never thought I would take acting so seriously," she says. Looking back at the last 12 years, I feel really grateful. I was very nervous while working on my first television show. But the director made me feel at ease. Renowned actor Mahfuz Ahmed was my co-star. It was a pleasure to work with him."
Her debut web film "Redrum" was widely appreciated by the audience upon its release. The actress played the central role in the Vicky Zahed directorial.
"The response has been beyond our expectations," she shares.
Her dynamic performance in the Chorki original murder mystery film took her a step ahead from her own limits as an artiste.
"Right after reading the script, I could see myself as Nila," says the actress. "Although women in our society are moving forward, we are yet to highlight more stories about them. We need to tell more woman-centric stories."
"Among the projects we work on throughout the year, just 5 percent are led by women. "I always look for roles which give me the scope to deliver impactful performances."
She appreciated Vicky Zahed for taking up bold projects. "He is one of my favourite directors and one of the few makers in Bangladesh who gives importance to female-led stories. He can successfully present the female point of view on screen," asserts Mehazabien.
Rumours have been circulating that she will be seen in Ashfaque Nipun's upcoming web project, "Sabrina", for Hoichoi. However, Mehazabien chose to stay tightlipped about this, adding that she will share details with her fans when the time comes.
The actress is currently in talks for several Eid-ul-Fitr television projects. "The field of television brought me immense recognition and love. I will never leave it," she says.
Amongst her Valentine's Day projects, "Titlir Phirey Asha", directed by Shihab Shaheen was praised for its unique storyline, focusing on a brother and sister's bond.
She was also praised for her performance in Mostofa Kamal Raz's "Kajol" and Mahmudur Rahman Hime's "Parthokko".
Mehazabien, who also wrote the tele-fiction "Alo", wants to write more scripts in the future.
