Afsana Mimi was one of the most loved faces of the 90's. She did not just limit herself as an actress, but successfully enlisted her name in the industry as a director as well.

Today marks the birthday of this wonderful artiste. On the occasion, she took some time out of her busy schedule to speak with The Daily Star.

How special are birthdays to you?

This is my most favourite day of the year. Even if it was just a little, I was able to do some good work and earn a place for myself in people's hearts. For that, I feel extremely blessed, mostly because so many people have wished me today.

Do you miss anyone special during such an auspicious occasion?

My mother left us for good many years ago. Actress Sharmili Ahmed was so close to my heart and I would call her amma. She never let me feel my mother's absence. Sadly, this is the first time I will be spending the day without her. Every year, amma would send me an envelope, with my name written on it. She used to gift me money, and would ask me to buy a saree with it. Amma would always pamper me a lot, yet today I am feeling extremely lonely without her.

Have you ever felt annoyed by your fans' affection towards you?

Never! They are my everything. I have always welcomed their love and appreciation. All of our hard work and effort are for them only. I have always believed that the love our fans have for us is unconditional.

You have worked in the industry for a long time now and have made many friends, colleagues and well-wishers. How does it feel?

I am elated with all of the love and support I have received over my career. I cannot thank my peers enough. They are the ones who have become my friends and family over the years. Particularly, Suborna Mustafa apa and Afroza Banu apa hold a very special place in my heart.
