Mithun Chakraborty, Afsana Mimi to star in Manas Mukul Pal’s next film
Indian National Award-winning filmmaker Manas Mukul Pal is gearing up for a new project featuring legendary Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty and renowned Bangladeshi actress Afsana Mimi. This upcoming film will be based on a story written by Pal himself.
Meanwhile, the director is also developing another screenplay based on a story by iconic Bangladeshi novelist Humayun Ahmed. The title is yet to be announced for this project.
To ensure the screenplay stays true to the original material, Pal will be travelling to Bangladesh to research the locations referenced in Ahmed's novel and meet Mimi for further discussions about the film.
The director, known for his critically acclaimed film "Sahaj Paather Gappo" (Colours of Innocence), spoke to Indian media about his decision to visit Bangladesh, saying, "The novel highlights several important places in Bangladesh. It's crucial for me to visit these sites to authentically recreate the atmosphere and fully capture the essence of the story."
During his trip, Pal will visit Dhaka, Kishoreganj, and other key locations featured in the novel.
Despite the current political situation in Bangladesh, Pal is optimistic about filming in the country once the screenplay is finalised. He shared, "I have a few other projects to complete before starting this film, but I'm confident that by the time we're ready, the situation will be favourable for shooting."
Pal, who rose to prominence with "Sahaj Paather Gappo", has been focused on multiple projects, including a long-awaited biopic of Indian revolutionary Dinesh Gupta. Although the production has faced setbacks—such as the pandemic lockdown and the passing of actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who was set to star—Pal remains committed to completing both the biopic and the Humayun Ahmed film adaptation.
