'My father is the ultimate superhero to me'
Today marks the 23rd death anniversary of noted film star, Abul Khayer Jasim Uddin, popularly known simply as Jasim. "We like to observe baba's birthdays and death anniversaries quietly," shares Jasim's youngest son, A K Rahul.
"Baba's memories are still fresh in our minds, and such special days make us nostalgic," he adds.
Jasim was born on August 15, in 1951, in Nawabganj, Boxnagar.
He was one of the most beloved artistes in the industry with many hits. Prominent actress Shabana and Jasim's films are popular till date.
The "Dost Dushmon" famed actor passed away on October 8, 1998, due to brain haemorrhage at the age of 47.
"My most favourite film of Baba is 'Jiddi', Rahul says, "I have watched the movie sitting on his lap." "Chunnu uncle also acted in the film with Baba."
He further said that "Kalia" and "Dost Dushman" are also on his favourites list.
"My father is the ultimate superhero to me," he adds.
Jasim made his debut with the film "Debor". He was later the lead star in "Mokabela". The actor played negative roles in more than 70 films and was the lead protagonist in more than 120 films.
The "Muktijoddha Chitronayok Jasim Floor" (Freedom Fighter Film Actor Jasim) at BFDC, is named after him.
Jasim was also a freedom fighter in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. He fought under the leadership of Major Haider in sector number 2.
He married actress Suchorita, however, they parted ways and later the actor tied the knot with Nasrin. She is the daughter of Purnima Sen, who was featured in Bangladesh's first feature film "Mukh O Mukhosh".
Together, Jasim and Nasrin have three sons Ratul, Sami and Rahul. A K Rahul is the guitarist of the band Trainwreck.
