My husband supports Brazil, but I’m rooting for Argentina: Putul
Renowned singer and host Sajia Sultana Putul has been a hardcore Argentina fan since her childhood days. "I was really young back in the 1994 FIFA World Cup games," she said. "Yet, I have been an ardent supporter of Argentina ever since."
Putul has grown up, witnessing her family support Argentina. Every game of Diego Maradona's teams seemed to bring about a festive mood and joy to her home. Growing up, she also felt a strong fondness towards the Argentina football team.
She strongly supported Argentina during the 1998 FIFA World Cup. When some supporters tended to change their team preference after a lost game, she stuck to it till the end, even when France took the cup.
"The game is always uncertain, and no one knows who will come out on the top until it's over," mentions the Close-up host. "Regardless of that, of course I want Argentina to win as it's my favourite team."
She believes that Argentina's team is much more organised and stronger in this World Cup. "Messi is an incomparably fantastic player. And, then there's Angel Di Maria, who also plays really well."
While Putul supports Argentina, her husband is a diehard fan of Brazil. When asked if there are any problems with the fact that both of them are supporting different teams? The singer laughed in response.
"Nah, we both enjoy the game together," said Putul.
Meanwhile, two new jerseys have been bought for Putul's daughter Gitalina. The first one is of Argentina, and the other is a mix of Brazil and Argentina. "I do this to teach her co-existence," she says. "She has the freedom to support any team she likes, when she grows up."
Putul, on the other hand, has returned to music again after her maternity break. "Music is my love. I want be with my music forever."
