Nabila returns to her root
Masuma Rahman Nabila started her journey with the television show "Ebong Class Er Baire," which earned her popularity as an anchor in 2006.
Since then she has showcased her versatility as an actress, leaving a lasting impression on audiences, despite working on only a handful of projects. Her most recent film, Raihan Rafi's "Toofan", where she starred opposite Shakib Khan, stands out as a milestone in the Bangladeshi film industry.
Now, after a long hiatus, Nabila is set to return to her roots in anchoring.
Starting today (November 1), the "Aynabaji" actress will host a 50-episode cooking show titled "Radhunir Rannaghor: Banglar Shera 100 Recipe."
The programme is scheduled to air every Friday at 9pm on Maasranga television. Nabila believes that this programme is more than just a typical cooking show; it would rather create an impression on the audience, bringing change in their perception of cooking.
"Toofan", Nabila's second silver screen project, came eight years after her blockbuster debut in "Aynabaji". In a past interview with The Daily Star, she shared that she stepped back from anchoring due to time constraints and her busy schedule, both personally and professionally. However, she admitted that hosting remains one of her favourite activities.
When asked what makes "Radhunir Rannaghor: Banglar Shera 100 Recipe" different from any other cooking show, Nabila explained to the Bangla Tribune, "A few years ago, a book was curated with 100 recipes from the contestants of 'Shera Radhuni', featuring traditional dishes from various regions of Bangladesh. This show can be seen as a digital version of that recipe collection. The book has its own charm, but it's important to present these recipes digitally to meet current demands."
She added, "The same people who contributed to the book will now prepare and showcase these dishes. Cooking shows based on recipe books aren't common here, though they're popular abroad, so in that sense, this is truly unique for us."
Nabila also shared one of her personal favourites. "The first dish I made for guests at my in-laws' after marriage was Shahi Tukra, and it was for Iftar. Everyone praised it so much! My daughter is also a huge fan of my pasta, and I make a bread pizza that she loves too."
Nabila concluded with an invitation to viewers, stating, "Tune in to our show to discover, learn, and appreciate Bangladesh's traditional dishes in a fresh way. The programme will be available on Maasranga Television and the YouTube channels of Maasranga TV and Radhuni."
