Nawazuddin Siddiqui quits OTT platforms, claims they are ‘a dumping ground’

Renowned Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui had been expressing his displeasure quite openly over how series after series, the content on OTT platforms is getting diluted. It came as a surprise for all his fans when he claimed that he will not be doing anymore series for the web.
Recently, the actor told Indian media that OTT platforms are "a dumping ground for redundant shows". He further mentioned that people now either get shows that don't deserve to be seen in the first place, or sequels to shows that have nothing more to say. He claimed that quantity has killed quality, when it comes to web shows.
He also stated that when he worked on "Sacred Games", there was an excitement and a challenge around the digital medium. Now, he feels, the freshness is gone.
"It's become a dhanda (racket) for big production houses and actors who are now so-called stars on the OTT platform. Major film producers in Bollywood have cut lucrative deals with all the big players in the OTT field," he was quoted as saying.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who was a pioneer on the digital medium, now fears the growth of a parallel star system on OTT platforms. He claimed that now, there are so-called stars on these platforms asking for large sums of money and throwing tantrums like Bollywood A-listers, forgetting that content should take precedence above all else.
