Netflix cancels deal with ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ after box office failure
Aamir Khan's streak of bad luck has struck once again, following the massive failure of "Laal Singh Chaddha" at the box office. The "Dangal" star has now lost out on a Rs 150 crore deal with Netflix.
"Laal Singh Chaddha", which had a budget of Rs 150 crore, could barely generate Rs 50 crore at the box office. According to media reports, Aamir Khan had demanded a whopping Rs 150 crore deal with Netflix, for the streaming rights to the movie. However, Netflix outright refused the agreement after the movie's catastrophic performance in theatres.
Aamir Khan had believed that the Indian adaptation of "Forrest Gump" would generate around Rs 300 crore at the box office. The streaming giant was initially willing to pay Rs 90 crore, however, Aamir was adamant that the film would perform well in China, so he was only willing to come down to Rs 125 crore as his final demand.
