Parth Samthaan is set to don the role of ACP in the popular television show "CID", following the exit of Shivaji Satam, who portrayed one of the most iconic characters, ACP Pradyuman.

Taking on the role of ACP Ayushmann, Parth is poised to lead the crime-solving team on Sony Entertainment Television. The actor spoke candidly in the media about the weight of taking over such a longstanding and iconic character.

He admitted that when the offer first came his way, he was uncertain about accepting it. His family, too, were initially in disbelief, thinking he was joking. However, once they realised he was serious, they were filled with pride.

"This show is nothing short of iconic and has been a staple on Sony for years," Parth said. "When I told my family about it, they laughed at first, but once they knew I was genuinely taking it on, they were thrilled. It's a massive responsibility to follow in ACP Pradyuman's footsteps. My character, ACP Ayushmann, brings a new dimension to the series — a fresh face with new stories and mysteries. I never imagined I'd be part of something so legendary. It feels like a major crossover moment for me."

The transition comes as the series takes a dramatic turn. According to the latest plotline, ACP Pradyuman loses his life in an explosion while pursuing the criminal Barboza, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. In the aftermath, ACP Ayushmann arrives on the scene to investigate the death of his predecessor, while also tackling other gripping cases.

Parth emphasised that while ACP Ayushmann is stepping into a similar position, the character will be distinct from Pradyuman, offering a new dynamic to the team and narrative.

"CID", which has captivated viewers since its 1998 debut, continues to feature fan-favourite characters such as Inspector Abhijeet and Inspector Daya, portrayed by Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty respectively.

Meanwhile, Shivaji Satam, who portrayed ACP Pradyuman for over twenty years, recently shared that he wasn't informed about the conclusion of his character's journey.

Speaking to Bombay Times, Satam revealed he had taken a break and didn't know his storyline had wrapped up. Nonetheless, he expressed gratitude for his time on the show, stating, "I've learnt to accept things as they come."

As Satam enjoys a well-earned rest, the show enters a new phase, blending nostalgia with fresh intrigue through Parth Samthaan's arrival.

Parth earned acclaim for his role in the second season of the popular daily soap "Kasautii Zindagii Kay".
