‘Patalghar’, ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jamin’ to compete in Bengaluru International Film Festival
Jaya Ahsan starrer "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin (A Tale of Two Sisters)" and Nusraat Faria starrer "Patalghar" is all set to compete in the 'Asian Competition' category at the prestigious Bengaluru International Film Festival. The 14th edition of this festival is going to start on March 23.
Announcing the news, Jaya Ahsan posted a status on her Facebook account.
"This year, 14 films are nominated for this competition, including several from the Berlin and Cannes International Film Festivals. The film festival will be held from March 23-30. "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin" was also nominated for the UNESCO Gandhi Medal Award at the 53rd International Film Festival Of India held in Goa. Congratulations and thanks to everyone associated with the film", read the post.
Akram Khan directorial "A Tale of Two Sisters" is based on Hasan Azizul Haq's novel "Nakshi Kanthar Jamin", and produced by TM Films' Farzana Munny. This film is based on the Bangladeshi Liberation War. Earlier, the film was nominated for the competition category of the 19th Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival.
After receiving accolades for his debut directorial project "Komola Rocket", Noor Imran Mithu's second venture "Patalghar", had a world premiere in Goa last year. The film depicts the story of a mother-daughter duo, played by Afsana Mimi and Nusraat Faria.
In the Asian competition category at the Bengaluru International Film Festival, there are 12 other films competing from 8 countries. Some of the notable ones are "Motherless" (Iran), "Before Now", "Then" (Indonesia), "Love Life" (Japan, France), and "Valvi" (India).
