‘Priyotoma’ leads in North American box office

Himel Ashraf's "Priyotoma" has entered the elite club of the top three films of Bangladesh in the North American market. Surpassing Anam Biswas' "Debi",  "Priyotoma" is on the third position, while Raihan Rafi's "Poran" on the second position and Mejbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa" is at the first position. 

Mohammad Oliullah Sajib, president of Swapna Scarecrow, distributor of Canada and America, confirmed the news to The Daily Star.

He also shared that the four-week gross box office collection of Shakib Khan starrer "Priyotoma" is USD 126000, while "Debi" had USD 125000.

At the same time, the film also joins "Hawa" for a record of five consecutive weeks in a theatre in America. The film is running for the fifth week at Jamaica Multiplex.

According to the distributors, "Priyotoma" is now the highest-grossing Bangladeshi film in single theatres in North America.

The gross collection of "Priyotoma" up to 4 weeks at Jamaica Multiplex in America is USD 67,104. The previous highest grosser, "Hawa", had USD63,548 in five weeks at multiplexes.

However, the highest income in North America is still occupied by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa"—USD 358000. The next place is occupied by Raihan Rafi's "Poran", which collected USD 187000.

Currently, "Priyotoma" is holding the third position with its earning—USD 112000 in two weeks and USD 126000 in four weeks. "Priyotoma" was released in 42 halls.
