Razzmatazz with Sariful Razz
Prominent actor Sariful Razz started out as a model before making his silver screen debut with Redoan Rony's first feature film, "Icecream". "No Dorai", directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu, was another career highlight for him. His recent web film, the Mizanur Rahman Aryan directorial "Networker Baire", garnered much appreciation from audiences.
His lined up movies include "Poran" and "Dhamal", both directed by Raihan Rafi, along with Niamul Mukta's "Rokto Joba" and Mesbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa". Razz will be gearing up for the shoot of Gias Uddin Selim's forthcoming feature film, "Gunin", where he will share screen space with actors like Azad Abul Kalam, Mostofa Monwar, Iresh Zaker, and Pori Moni among others.
The actor, along with his co artistes of "Networker Baire", survived a deadly car accident just a few days after the release of the film. In a recent conversation with The Daily Star, Razz spoke about his latest project "Gunin", and more.
How are you doing now?
After a month of complete bed rest, I feel much better now. The experience was extremely traumatic for all of us who survived the accident. I was totally away from the media for a long time. Even my phone was not with me for more than twenty days.
You will be seen in an important role in Gias Uddin Selim's forthcoming feature film "Gunin". How are you preparing for the film?
I feel honoured and overwhelmed to be a part of Selim bhai's film with all of my favourite artistes. Initially, we are rehearsing and trying to connect with each other. Selim bhai handed me the script of the film, and told me not to take any sort of pressure, and that we will do the rest on the sets of "Gunin".
Pori Moni recently got associated with "Gunin". This is your first project with her. Did you watch any of her films earlier?
I have watched Pori Moni in Selim bhai's "Swapnojaal", and I felt that she is immensely talented. Also, she is a great human being with a bold personality and a good soul. I am looking forward to working with her.
When is the team planning to begin the shoot?
If everything goes well, we will start our shooting from mid-October in Brahmanbaria. I am excited because it is the first time I will be shooting in my hometown. Other locations will include Manikganj as well.
"Networker Baire" was widely appreciated. Did you expect such a response?
While working on a project, all I try is to give my best. I never think about the response. However, Mizanur Rahman Aryan's effort was really appreciable. Hence, we are still getting such a positive response for "Networker Baire". Also, the songs are really good.
Who inspired you the most to become an actor?
Filmmaker Redoan Rony has always inspired me. I made my debut on the big screen through his film. He is very special to me. My dates will always be free for him.
What can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
We wrapped up "Poran" a long time ago, and "Dhamal" is almost done as well. I have done my part; the releases are the producers' call.
