Saswata Chatterjee set to lead in Bangladeshi series ‘Gulmohar, premiering next year
For the first time, celebrated Indian actor Saswata Chatterjee—best known for his roles in blockbuster hit films "Kalki", "Crew" and "Kahaani"—will star in a Bangladeshi web series titled "Gulmohar," directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki. The much-anticipated series, shrouded in mystery, is set to premiere early next year.
The plot of "Gulmohar" centres on a family grappling with the aftermath of the father's death, leading to disputes over the inheritance. Amidst this tension, an unexpected event throws the family into further turmoil. Director Shawki has remained secretive about the full storyline, teasing the audience with just enough to build anticipation.
Speaking to the media, Shawki mentioned, "We are in the final phase of production, with only post-production left. Everything is in place for the release." He further added, "However, it seems unlikely that 'Gulmohar' will be released this year as we are already in the last stretch of the year. We're now targeting a release early next year."
When asked about his upcoming projects for the new year, Shawki kept things open-ended, stating, "You can never plan these things. There will definitely be new work next year, but I can't say exactly what yet. I have several projects in the pipeline that will keep me busy for a while."
Saswata Chatterjee will be paired with actress Sushama Sarkar in "Gulmohar," while the rest of the cast remains a closely guarded secret. The series will stream on a local OTT platform.
