In mid-December, the return of Bangladeshi acting legend Shabnur to the silver screen was announced through various sources. Although not officially confirmed by Shabnur, multiple sources have verified her comeback in Chayanika Chowdhury's upcoming project, "Matal Hawa", where she will star alongside Mahfuz Ahmed, who will also write the script.
During this period, it was disclosed that discussions about the project were underway, and once the cast was finalised, shooting would commence.
Through the actress's social media, it is evident that she has been diligently preparing for her comeback, mirroring her lifestyle in Australia. Shabnur has conveyed her anticipation for a return to the screens, but the exact timing remains uncertain.
Recently, news of a new film titled "Rongona" has surfaced, directed by debutant Arafat Hossain. Sources indicate that this film marks Shabnur's return to the big screen, with shooting scheduled to commence in February of the upcoming year. The film is anticipated to be a woman-centric thriller, offering a unique perspective, and is expected to release during Eid-ul-Fitr next year.
Director Arafat Hossain expressed his desire to work with Shabnur and present her in a distinctive manner. He emphasised that, despite being woman-centric, the thriller would provide a fresh portrayal of the actress. Shabnur, in a press note, mentioned that she agreed to the project while in Australia seven months ago. She praised the film's songs, penned by Kabir Bakul, and expressed her preparation for the role, hoping the audience would find it fantastic.
The movie "Rongona" will feature three songs with lyrics by Kabir Bakul, and Imran Mahmudul will handle the compositions and lend his voice. Shabnur's last appearance was in the 2018 film "Pagol Manush".
