Shah Rukh Khan likely to reprise iconic role in ‘Baazigar 2’
The Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Baazigar" which achieved cult status with its popularity, still resonates today. His portrayal of an anti-hero in the 1993 romantic thriller captivated audiences tremendously. Now, in an exciting turn, SRK is reportedly in discussions for "Baazigar 2". Producer Ratan Jain recently confirmed that a sequel is definitely in the works.
In a recent conversation with ETimes, producer Ratan Jain revealed that talks are underway with Shah Rukh Khan about a potential "Baazigar" sequel. Jain mentioned that while the script is still in development, he intends to move forward with the project only if SRK agrees to reprise his role as the lead.
Jain also implied that there is an intriguing concept for the sequel, but emphasised the need for a strong, engaging script and a fresh approach in direction. He is determined to ensure that the film lives up to the high standards established by the original.
"We keep talking to Shah Rukh about 'Baazigar 2', but not much has happened, but it will definitely be made," said Ratan Jain.
Released on November 12, 1993, "Baazigar" recently marked its 31st anniversary. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, who became one of Bollywood's most iconic on-screen pairs.
It also starred Shilpa Shetty, Siddharth Ray, Rakhee, Dalip Tahil, and Johny Lever in key roles. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film was widely praised for its gripping story, strong performances, memorable music, and suspenseful narrative.
Besides, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing to begin shooting for his upcoming film "King" in January 2025. This project will be his first collaboration with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film also features Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in significant roles.
