Veteran actress Shahnaz Khushi has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a battery-powered vehicle while walking on a narrow lane. In a heartfelt social media post, she detailed the horrifying experience, warning the public—especially parents—to be extra cautious while on the roads.

Despite sustaining injuries requiring ten stitches above her eye, Khushi expressed gratitude for being alive. "Not much, just 10 stitches. What's the big deal, right?! At least I haven't lost my eyesight, nor have I suffered a life-threatening brain haemorrhage! That in itself is a huge blessing! It's nothing serious—just 10 stitches on the sensitive area above my eye!" she wrote in a Facebook post.

The actress, who was returning home from a morning walk at the time of the accident, said she was walking cautiously along the edge of the lane. However, she was suddenly hit and knocked down by a reckless driver who fled the scene without hesitation. She described the driver as "barbaric" and called battery-run rickshaws a growing menace.

Khushi's post carried an urgent warning for parents who walk their children to school or take them out on errands. She cautioned that while she had managed to survive with injuries, a child might not be as fortunate. "I may have survived with injuries, but no child could endure such a blow! Always be cautious of battery-run, reckless, and barbaric vehicles and their equally reckless drivers."

Taking to Facebook, Khushi also added, "Your safety, and that of your child, is solely your responsibility. Even after four days, half my head remains numb. I don't know if my face will ever return to feeling normal. Even if it does, I will never forget the trauma of lying on that bloodstained road that morning."

The actress also raised concerns about the deteriorating state of public safety, questioning the authorities' role in ensuring security for ordinary citizens. She pointed out that incidents of mugging, extortion, road accidents caused by unfit vehicles, and a lack of law enforcement at key points in the city have made everyday life increasingly perilous.

"With people being slashed indiscriminately, muggings happening in trains, buses, rickshaws, and private cars at all hours, armed extortionists storming into any institution, unfit vehicles causing constant road accidents, a complete lack of police or traffic officers at signals in the evenings, roadblocks and brawls occurring randomly—who is responsible for our safety?" she questioned.

Even four days after the accident, Khushi revealed that she is still experiencing numbness in half of her head and is uncertain whether her face will fully recover. However, she said the emotional trauma of lying on the bloodstained road that morning will haunt her for a long time.

Her post concluded with a wish for public safety and well-being: "May everyone's life be free from danger and filled with peace."

Battery-run rickshaws have caused multiple accidents in recent times and have raised safety concerns not only for pedestrians but also for those who ride these vehicles. The lack of proper training for drivers has created this situation, as most of them do not have enough experience to operate battery-generated engines.
