Renowned Indian actor Saswata Chattopadhyay is set to debut in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry with the upcoming Chorki original series "Gulmohor", directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki. The family mystery-drama, which marks Shawki's return to the director's seat after nearly three years, will premiere on the streaming platform at midnight on May 15.

Speaking about the project, Chattopadhyay said he was immediately drawn to the emotional core of the story. "This is a family story with many layers. There's something deeply emotional about my character. That kind of role is rare these days," the actor shared. "When I learned that the shooting would take place in Bangladesh, I said yes right away."

The series brings together a powerhouse cast including Sara Zaker, Intekhab Dinar, Mostafizur Noor Imran, Sushama Sarker, Mir Naufel Ashrafi Jisan, Sarika Sabah, Taufiqul Islam Emon, and Mostafa Monwar. According to Shawki, "Gulmohor" is his most ambitious project yet. 

A promotional poster released by Chorki on May 5 teased the series' central theme with the line, "The tune of relationships drowned in the greed for power."

Actor Intekhab Dinar described the series as "a gripping drama woven with betrayal and complex family ties," noting that "Shawki directed it with a magician's touch." Echoing this sentiment, Sushama Sarkar remarked, "The story explores how power, envy, and greed can unravel love, trust, and relationships."

"Gulmohor" will be Shawki's first original series for Chorki and his third directorial venture overall. Following the critical acclaim of "Taqdeer" and "Karagar", expectations are high for this upcoming new series.

With the involvement of a celebrated Indian actor, a stellar Bangladeshi cast, and a director known for compelling storytelling, "Gulmohor" is one of the most anticipated releases on the local streaming platform this year.
