‘Shibpur’ director absent from trailer launch ceremony
Today, prominent Indian actor Swastika Mukherjee shared the trailer for her upcoming project, "Shibpur". Directed by Arindam Bhattacharya, the film also features Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Kharaj Mukherjee, Mamata Shankar and Rajatava Dutta.
Sharing the trailer on her social media, the actor captioned her post, "Trailer of my film 'Shibpur' is here. The film releases on 30th June in theatres. If you like the trailer, you will love the film. Do watch it on the big screen."
Prior to sharing the trailer on her social media, the actor also shared that she was subjected to sexual harassment during the film's shooting. That is why Swastika refrained from attending the trailer launch event for "Shibpur".
Swastika also lodged a police complaint regarding this last March, against one of the film's producers, Sandeep Sarkar.
Moreover, the director of the film, Arindam Bhattacharya, was also absent at the event. According to media reports, the producers of the film have filed a case against Arindam Bhattacharya for allegedly extorting money and threatening one of the film's producers, Ajanta Sinha Roy.
The case was filed against the "Shibpur" director back on April 10. Since then, the makers of the film have been trying to keep Arindam away from the film's promotional activities.
Regarding Arindam Bhattaycharya's absence during the trailer launch event, an official from the production company shared, "We have invited everyone associated with the film. And, I heard the director is now out of town for his new film. I cannot find out whether he has been invited or not."
