Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello announce divorce after 7 years

Celebrity couple Sofa Vergara and Joe Manganiello have announced their divorce after seven years of marriage. 

The couple shared the news via a joint statement to Page Six. 

"As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives," read their statement.

Joe Manganiello's long wait for Sofia Vergara

The news about their divorce comes a week after Sophia's 51st birthday in Italy. Sophia celebrated with her friends in Italy but Manganiello wasn't seen anywhere in the picture. 

However, the actor paid respect to Vergara on social media, by posting a throwback photo of the couple on July 10 with the caption, "Happy Birthday Sofia."

Vergara and Manganiello, 46, had met multiple times before their relationship. However, the two didn't go on their first date until June 15, 2014, a month after Vergara disclosed she had called off her engagement to billionaire Nick Loeb.

Sophia and Manganiello got married in November, 2015. 

Earlier on, Sophia was married to Joe Gonzalez, from 1991 to 1993, they had one son called Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, who is now 31 years old.

This marks the first marriage for Manganiello, who was previously engaged  to Audra Marie from 2010 to 2011.
