‘Squid Game’ Season 2 trailer: Player 456 returns to end the deadly game
Seong Gi-hun, known as Player 456, is back in action in the newly released trailer for "Squid Game" Season 2, marking the return of actor Lee Jung-jae to his iconic role. After winning the harrowing survival game in Season 1, Gi-hun is now determined to put an end to the deadly competition.
In the trailer, when asked why he has returned, Gi-hun boldly states, "I'm trying to put an end to this game." The upcoming season, scheduled for release on December 26, explores whether the players can stop the brutal contest that forces them to risk their lives for a massive cash prize.
The official synopsis from Netflix indicates, "Three years after his victory, Gi-hun forgoes a chance to move to the United States and instead returns to the game with a renewed sense of purpose. He faces familiar enemies like the sinister Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) and new competitors who vie for the ultimate prize of 45.6 billion won ($38,460,271)."
In this highly anticipated second season, Lee Jung-jae returns alongside Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo, while new additions to the ensemble cast, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, and Park Gyu-young, introduce exciting fresh characters.
Besides, the creator and director of "Squid Game", Hwang Dong-hyuk, has confirmed that the series will conclude with a third and final season in 2025.
