SRK to receive upgraded Y+ security cover amidst death threats
Mumbai Police has decided to bolster the security detail for Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, as the actor reported receiving death threats following the immense success of his recent films, "Pathaan" and "Jawan".
The new security arrangement upgrades Khan's protection to Y+ category, entailing continuous surveillance by six armed security personnel, an increase from the previous two.
The actor, in a recent communication to the Maharashtra government, raised concerns over receiving death threats due to his consecutive blockbuster hits. In response, the government promptly authorised heightened security measures to safeguard the beloved star.
Last year, actor Salman Khan was similarly granted Y+ security in response to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang.
Shah Rukh Khan has a history of confronting threats from the Mumbai underworld, showing unwavering resolve in the face of adversity. Recently, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta took to social media to commend Khan for his resilience, citing his refusal to succumb to underworld pressures during the 1990s.
As per the policy set by the Maharashtra government, individuals facing life-threatening situations are eligible for security cover, albeit at a cost or by depositing a security fee for the provided protection.
