SRK’s ‘Jawan’ surpasses ‘Gadar 2’, becomes highest grossing Hindi film
"Gadar 2" was in the rank of India's highest-grossing Hindi film for a day, until Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" took over the mantle with over Rs 525 crore.
"Jawan", which was released a month after the Sunny Deol-starrer "Gadar 2", surpassed the film after "Gadar 2" exceeded "Pathaan's" earnings with Rs 524.75 crore.
Taran Adarsh, a film trade analyst, took to X to inform about "Jawan's" box office collection and tweeted, "'Jawan' crosses lifetime business of 'Gadar 2' and 'Pathaan's' Hindi version in India. It is now the highest-grossing film in Hindi in India. SRK features in the top 3 highest-grossing Hindi films: Pathaan (No. 3) and Jawan (No. 1)."
"Jawan" is co-written and directed by Atlee and has been produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under Red Chillies Entertainment. It tells the story of a father and son duo teaming up, to battle corruption.
"Pathaan's and "Jawan's" successes, allowed Shah Rukh Khan to become the only actor in Hindi cinema to accumulate two highest-grossing films within a calendar year.
King Khan will soon be seen with his third release, "Dunki", this year. It will come out around Christmas and is scheduled to conflict with the release of Prabhas' "Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire".
