Sundance Film Festival announces Short Film Award winners
The 41st edition of the Sundance Film Festival, one of the world's most prominent independent film festivals, has successfully completed six out of its eleven days.
Held in various venues across Park City and Salt Lake City in the mountainous state of Utah in the western United States, the festival has already showcased over a hundred films, both short and feature-length, between January 23 and 28.
Among the 53 selected shorts—chosen from an impressive 12,098 submissions—the Short Film Grand Jury Prize was awarded to "The Masterpiece", directed and written by Alex Lora Cercos. The Short Film Jury Award went to director Kate Jean Hollowell, for "Say Hi After You Die".
The Short Film Jury Award for International Fiction was given to "The Stag", directed by An Chu. The Short Film Jury Award for Nonfiction was presented to "Bob's Funeral", directed by Jack Dunphy.
The Short Film Jury Award for Animation was presented to "Bug Diner" by Phoebe Jane Hart.
The Short Film Special Jury Prize for Directing was awarded to "The Looming", directed by Masha Ko, and "Pisko the Crab Child Is in Love", directed by Makoto Nagahisa.
