‘Taali’ teaser: Sushmita Sen looks fierce as trans activist Shreegauri

The teaser for Sushmita Sen's long-awaited web series "Taali" was released yesterday. The actress will play Mumbai-based transgender campaigner Shreegauri Sawant, aka Gauri Sawant. 

Sushmita Sen posted the teaser on her Instagram and wrote, "From gaali to taali, the journey of Shreegauri Sawant. Presenting the story of Shreegauri Sawant's fight for India's third gender.''

The teaser of "Taali" depicts Sushmita in a fierce avatar fighting for the rights of India's third gender. 

The teaser starts with a voice over where we can hear the protagonist demanding these things from the society- self-respect, respect and freedom to live their life. The scene then showcases Sen dressed as a boy, presumably a young Sawant from her college days. The frame then transforms to Sawant transforming herself into Gauri. 

As a transgender activist, Sen appears powerful and intense, sporting a large, circular bindi and kohl in her eyes. So much so that you can't take your gaze away from her. Her facial expressions deserve accolades as she emerges herself in the character. Needless to say, she looks promising in "Taali."

Ravi Jadhav has directed the series, while Kshitij Patwardhan has penned the script. 

"Taali" will be available to stream on Jio Cinema from August 15.
