A tale of two movies: ‘Hawa’ and ‘Poran’ rejuvenate Bangladeshi cinema
Among the three films released this Eid ul-Azha, "Poran" released in only 11 theatres across the country. Compared to the other two movies, "Din- The Day" and "Psycho", this was the lowest number of available halls on release.
However, while "Din- The Day" and "Psycho" performed well upon release in theatres, "Poran" managed to hold a place in the audience's hearts. With every passing week, the number of halls for "Poran" continued to increase, with shows being available across 60 halls in the film's fourth week after release.
Flowing in the same direction, Mejbaur Rahman Sumon's "Hawa" is on the verge to become a grand commercial success. Be it its unique promotional strategy, or the song "Shada Shada Kala Kala", "Hawa" was able to sell out tickets for its first week of being in theatres. Starting today, the movie has been released in 24 cineplexes across the country.
Meanwhile, the ticket booking for the second week of "Hawa" is already underway. The film stars Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Sariful Razz, Sumon Anowar, Shohel Mondol, and Nasir Uddin Khan, among many others.
On the other hand, "Poran" stars Bidya Sinha Mim, Sariful Razz, and Yash Rohan in lead roles, alongside Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rosy Siddiqui, Lutfar Rahman George, Rashed Mamun Apu, Mili Basher and Nasir Uddin Khan.
