With Satyajit Ray's "Ashani Sanket", Babita became a household name, garnering numerous awards and fame under her belt, both locally and abroad. In her long cinematic career, the actress has gifted many iconic movies to the audiences like "Golapi Ekhon Traine (The Endless Trail)", "Noyonmoni" and many more. An actress who had transcended time and generations, fans still rave about her contributions to the industry.

It is also worth mentioning that she is part of a trio of three sisters-Suchanda, Babita and Champa- who have all made significant contributions to the Bengali silver screen.

July 30 marks Babita's birthday. She is currently residing in Canada with her only son, Anik.

The Daily Star caught up with the actress on her birthday, who didn't fail to mention that being with her son on her birthday, makes it a lot better. Which is why around the same time every year, she visits Canada to spend time with her family.

"For my birthday, Anik will take me sightseeing around Toronto. There is apparently a ballet show and what not. I find this to be life's biggest achievement, spending my special day with my son", expressed the actress.

When asked further about her plans today, she said, "The day is only starting here. My son will surprise me today, to make the day memorable".

Remarking about how she had been spending her days in Canada, Babita had a surprising hobby to reveal. "I go for fishing whenever I'm here, I like catching fishes." She is currently in Kitchener, Ontario, a city she finds to be delightful.

Babita is also awaiting an exciting day to come on August 4, when she will be awarded a lifetime honour by the mayor of Dallas, for her illustrious cinematic career. The award will be given during Dallas Bangla Film Festival, which will be inaugurated with the screening of her acclaimed film, "Noyonmoni".

On a conclusive note, Babita added that she finds this to be a significant acknowledgement, about which she will express once she has the award in hand.
