They don’t affect me anymore: Srabanti hits back at trolls
Srabanti Chatterjee is currently on cloud nine, having received the 'Best Actress Award' in the popular category at Telengana Bengali Film Festival. The actress was representing her film, "Bhoy Peo Na", and has finally returned to Kolkata from Hyderabad.
In an interview with the Times of India, the actress talked about how she wasn't fully utilised as an artiste and how she responds to trolls on Facebook.
When asked about whether she was underutilised by Tollywood, the actress responded that she was typecast for many years, but things have changed for good.
"I can bluntly say this. I was getting typecast but over the past few years, things have changed. I have been offered a wide range of roles that have given me the opportunity to explore my skills," said the actress.
Srabanti also reflected on how some directors still believed in her and gave her the opportunity to perform in critically acclaimed movies like "Goynar Baksho" and "Buno Haansh". However, she still gives importance to commercial movies as well.
"I can't ignore commercial cinema, as I love to be a part of the glitz, dance and all the entertainment elements a masala film offers. Commercial cinema has made me the star I am right now and I can't deny that. People have showered me with their love and made me their heroine," added Srabanti.
The actress was also asked about how trolls were more interested in her personal life, rather than her craft.
"There were times when trolls would affect me mentally, but these days I don't think too much about them. It once bothered my family also, but now we just read and simply laugh it off. I have decided to ignore trolls and shift my focus more on those who actually love me," shared the actress.
Srabanti also believes that people will keep on scrutinising her, as they love being judgemental and spreading negativity about others.
"I live my life on my own terms. People who are trolling, won't share my burden. I have seen lots of ups and downs in life, but I have learned how to keep calm and continue doing my work. To maintain this, I rely on my vacations, frequent short trips and seeking out positive energy," concluded Srabanti.
