Veteran actress Seema Deo passes away at 81

Celebrated for her memorable roles in iconic films like "Anand" and "Kora Kagaz", renowned Bollywood veteran actress Seema Deo, breathed her last yesterday in Mumbai.

She succumbed to age-related ailments at 81 years old, as confirmed by her son, Abhinay Deo.

Seema Deo's illustrious career spans over 80 Hindi and Marathi films. The seasoned actress had been battling Alzheimer's disease for more than three years, which had significantly impacted her health and daily functioning.

According to Abhinay Deo, "She passed away at 8.30-9 am at her residence in Bandra due to old age. She had withdrawn completely, and eventually, it was just old age. Alzheimer's is such a thing that you stop figuring out how to function. She had dementia leading up to Alzheimer's, and she was suffering from it for over three years."

Explaining the circumstances of her passing, he further stated, "There's no specific reason (for her death). Due to Alzheimer's and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory starts coming down, and one by one, the organs start shutting down."

The legendary actress was the wife of Ramesh Deo, an eminent figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 93. Seema Deo is survived by her two sons – actor Ajinkya Deo and director Abhinay Deo.

While Ajinkya Deo has left his mark in films such as "Sansaar", "Indrajeet", and "Aan: Men at Work", Abhinay Deo has made a name for himself as a director with critically acclaimed films like "Delhi Belly" and "Force"
