We can produce our own ‘Pathaan’: Zayed Khan
Renowned actor Zayed Khan has been firmly against the import of Hindi films in Bangladesh, alongside famed actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol and many others. Zayed Khan has even stated that he is prepared to take to the streets and protest against the decision to import Indian films.
Today, during the National Film Awards 2021, the actor further expressed his opinions about importing "Pathaan" with the media.
"Why do we need to import 'Pathaan'?" the actor asked the film producers and exhibitors. "Instead, you can have me and my co-stars produce our own 'Pathaan'. We can produce Bollywood standard films as well."
"A BDT 1 crore film can never compete against a movie that has a budget of Rs 100 crore," he added. "If 'Pathaan' was running in our cinema halls, what would happen to the films like 'Ora 7 Jon', which is currently running in the halls? Do you think the film will be able to find a hall where it would be screened over 'Pathaan'?"
Before leaving for his performance, Zayed Khan shared, "If Hindi cinemas are shown in our halls, then our younger generation will slowly take in Hindi and neglect their Bengali language traditions, and culture. That's why I am against bringing Hindi films from the start."
The actor concluded saying, "Nowadays, our cinema halls are barely adequate for our audience to enjoy good Bangla films. Please improve these conditions and I am sure our people will return to watch our own films in these halls."
