Why Shah Rukh left 'Don 3'
Last month, Farhan Akhtar unveiled the new face of the iconic character 'Don' as Ranveer Singh for the upcoming third instalment of the franchise. This decision left Shah Rukh Khan's fans disappointed, as they had been anticipating his return to the role. In a recent interview, Farhan talked about the reasons behind this casting change and expressed his enthusiasm for having Ranveer on board.
Speaking with Variety, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar shed light on the transition of the character 'Don' from Shah Rukh Khan to Ranveer Singh. Farhan explained that the decision stemmed from their inability to align on the direction of the story, resulting in a mutual agreement to part ways. He stated, "I am not in the position of replacing anybody. These are things that we discussed over the years. I wanted to take a certain direction with the story. But we could not find common ground. We just parted mutually with the knowledge that it is probably for the best. So that is where it is."
Farhan Akhtar expressed his anticipation for Ranveer's role in "Don 3", emphasising that the actor is enthusiastic and fully prepared for the project. He commented, "I am really excited that Ranveer is on board. He is so charged and so ready to go. It is a big film. Being an actor is a big thing to do, and we all are excited to have him on board. His energy is energizing us, so to speak."
The first look teaser of the movie introduced Ranveer in a dashing and charismatic avatar, where he delivered impactful dialogues. The Gully Boy actor has expressed his determination to honor the legacy of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, who received immense love for their respective portrayals of Don.
