‘XO, Kitty’ renewed for season 2 at Netflix
Netflix has officially renewed the series "XO, Kitty" for a second season. The announcement comes approximately a month after the show's premiere on May 18. According to Netflix, "XO, Kitty" debuted as the second most-watched program in the weekly Top 10 rankings, accumulating 72.1 million hours of viewership.
"XO, Kitty" is a spinoff of Netflix's popular "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" film franchise, which is based on a series of young adult novels written by Jenny Han. The series revolves around Kitty Song Covey, a teenage matchmaker who believes she knows everything about love. However, when she embarks on a journey to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend after moving halfway across the world, she realises that navigating relationships becomes much more complex when it's her own heart at stake.
The lead role of Kitty is played by Anna Cathcart, alongside a talented ensemble cast including Minyeong Choi as Dae, Gia Kim as Yuri, Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho, Anthony Keyvan as Q, and Peter Thurnwald as Alex.
Created by Jenny Han, "XO, Kitty" also sees her serving as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Sascha Rothchild. Matt Kaplan of ACE Entertainment is also an executive producer. The series is a collaboration between ACE and Awesomeness Studios.
"To All the Boys I've Loved Before" franchise originally debuted on Netflix in 2018, followed by the sequels "To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You" in 2020 and "To All the Boys: Always and Forever" in 2021, all of which have been well-received by audiences.
