ZEE5 bids adieu to Bangladeshi OTT scene
Popular Indian OTT streaming platform, ZEE5, began their journey in Bangladesh around 2019. However, it seems now that ZEE5's venture in Bangladesh has come to an abrupt end, with the OTT platform announcing that their services will no longer be available in Bangladesh after January 15.
ZEE5 emailed their Bangladeshi subscribers saying, "We regret to inform you that ZEE5's streaming services will no longer be available in Bangladesh. It's been a pleasure entertaining you with our stories."
The email also clarified that subscribers with advance payments would be refunded.
ZEE5 has featured a multitude of Bangladeshi content till now, including Director Abu Hayat Mahmud's film, "The Broker"; Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's crime-thriller series "Ladies and Gentleman", and Abrar Athar's directorial film "Mainkar Chipay", amongst others.
A subsidiary company of Asiatic 3Sixty, named the Good Company, was managing ZEE5 contents in Bangladesh. The managing director of Asiatic 3Sixty, Iresh Zaker informed the media that it was ZEE5's business decision. He also noted that ZEE5 felt that their platform would not work in Bangladesh.
