The flood victims of Kurigram and Lalmonirhat told The Daily Star that the incessant rains had multiplied their misery. Floodwaters from rivers have added to that. They have only dry food to eat. The government is providing assistance to flood victims, but it is not sufficient. They claim that the majority of flood victims are deprived of government relief facilities.
Abdullah Al Mamun, executive engineer of Kurigram Water Development Board, said that due to continuous rain and onrush water from upstream, the water level in the Brahmaputra and Dharla has continued to rise. This situation could last another 2-3 days.
