Cyclone Hamoon: 250 mud houses damaged in Cox’s Bazar’s Samitypara
Around 250 mud houses were damaged in Samitypara of Cox's Bazar yesterday due to the heavy rain and strong wind caused by Cyclone Hamoon.
Shaheen Imran, deputy commissioner of Cox's Bazar, confirmed the number but said they did not have an actual damage report since both mobile network and electricity were cut off in Samitypara since last night.
"At least 70 transformers and electric polls have also been damaged due to the cyclone," the DC added.
Meanwhile, Asheq Ullah Rafique, lawmaker from Cox's Bazar-2 (Moheshkhali-Kutubdia) said many mud houses were partly or fully damaged due to the devastation of the cyclone in his area. He also said that actual report of total damage was not available yet.
He added that several people were bitten by snakes during and after the cyclone.
