As the flood water is receding in some areas, trains leaving Dhaka can now reach Sylhet Railway Station.

Khairul Kabir, divisional transport officer of the railways, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

He said, "Flood water increased at Sylhet Railway Station yesterday afternoon. Since then, the trains leaving Dhaka couldn't directly reach the station. The trains had to stop at two stations – Mogla Bazar and Maizgaon – before Sylhet Railway Station."

He also said that today (June 19, 2022) the flood water on the rail tracks has gone down a bit. Three rail lines on the Dhaka-Sylhet route are useable now, he added.

Following this, the trains have been allowed to run to Sylhet station from Mogla Bazar and Maizgaon stations since 12:55 pm, the official added.
