People for Animal Welfare Foundation, Care for Paws, and Animal lovers of Bangladesh stood with placards at the human chain at the Saarc fountain intersection near Sonargaon Hotel.
Demanding immediate stop to the killing of dogs abiding the existing Violence against Animals Act 1920, the protesters also demanded the law be updated, said their press release.
A similar protest programme will also be held on Saturday in the port city of Chittagong, to be organised by Rise for Paws, an animal welfare body, the press release adds.
