3 illegal dredgers seized at Arial Beel

A mobile court yesterday seized three illegal dredgers at Arial Beel in Munshiganj's Sreenagar upazila and realised Tk1.5 lakh as fine.

Sreenagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Hossain Patwari, also an executive magistrate, operated the mobile court in Bibandi-Bagbari area yesterday afternoon, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.

The court seized the dredgers and imposed the fine on a local trader for illegally lifting sand from the water body, said Sreenagar Assistant Commissioner (land) Saffat Ara Sayeed.

Local sand trader Hashem Ali Amin was the owner of the dredgers, he added.

Hashem, also a former information affairs secretary of Sreenagar upazila Jubo League, admitted paying the fine.
