No fund crisis for post-cyclone rehabilitation: Finance Division
Even though the Finance Division is uncertain how much money will require to tackle the post-cyclone rehabilitation, there is no shortage of financial resources to conduct operation and relief distribution.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief today held an "Emergency Board Meeting on the Implementation of Cyclone Mocha related Preparedness Programme" where different departments apprised the meeting about their preparations.
Finance Division's Joint Secretary Abu Daiyan Mohammad Ahsanullah said the division has carried out a comprehensive fiscal risk assessment.
"During crisis and post crisis rehabilitation, the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry has enough budgetary resources to carry out the operation and relief programme. We'll not face any budget crisis immediately," he said.
"We've assessed the post disaster rehabilitation but it is hard to tell right now how much resource will be required…," he added.
"The post-cyclone scenario may be different here comparing to the haor and other regions where we need a large amount of financial resources for rehabilitation after a major disaster. However, we'll review our assessment next week and onwards," he said.
Taking part in the discussion, Ashraf Ahmed Rasel, senior assistant secretary of Security Services Division, the Ministry of Home Affairs, said the members of the fire service and civil defence at the coastal districts are working in coordination with the district administration.
