The price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder has risen by Tk 4 and will sell at Tk 1,459 in retail points from today for the remainder of January, according to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission.

The hike is attributed to the government's increased Value Added Tax on LPG. Previously, BERC had announced that LPG prices would remain unchanged at Tk 1,455 for January, as set in November.

After considering the new VAT on LPG introduced this fiscal year, the BERC has set the per kg LPG price at Tk 121.56, an increase from Tk 121.19.

With the VAT adjustment, per kg LPG price has risen slightly to Tk 121.56 from Tk 121.19. Prices of other cylinder sizes, ranging from 5.5kg to 45kg, will adjust accordingly.

Additionally, auto gas prices have increased to Tk 67.27 per litre from Tk 66.78.
