Mercury rises to 38.5 degrees in Rajshahi, rain likely in next 24 hours

The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi over the past 24 hours, with the lowest temperature recorded at 19.5 degrees Celsius in Panchagarh's Tetulia.

There may be temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain, and thunderstorm at one or two places in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the 24 hours from 9:00am today, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's weather forecast.

Md Shaheenul Islam, a meteorologist at the BMD, said, "There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms and rain in the country towards evening, except in Barishal. It will not rain everywhere at once but rainfall may occur in some places."

During this time, daytime temperatures across the country may decrease slightly and the nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

The forecast predicted temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain, thunderstorm at one or two places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions of the country tomorrow. In addition, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

Day and night temperatures are likely to increase slightly across the country.
